DAPHNE, Ala.-Alabama Revenue Commissioner Tim Russell will speak at “Coffee with the Mayor” 8:30 a.m. Thursday at City Hall.

Russell, former Foley mayor, will discuss property taxes and homeowners insurance over coffee and pastries with city leaders and local residents.

“I know as a citizen and the mayor that taxes and insurance is on everyone's mind, not only in Daphne but in the entire Baldwin County area,” Mayor Fred Small said.

“The increase of both, along with our economic situation, has affected everyone,” he said.

Russell did not immediately return phone calls for further information on his appearance.

Also on the agenda, representatives from Ecumenical Ministries  Inc. will present a project addressing reliable and affordable hurricane insurance.

The local office of EMI-an interfaith organization that aims to improve quality of life by aiding people in meeting basic needs, providing environmentally sustainable affordable housing and community development, according to its Web site-will sponsor a meeting on insurance, featuring local representatives and senators, set for Nov. 20.

“Coffee with the Mayor” is a monthly, informal gathering where residents can chat with the mayor about important issues impacting the community.

“Any information that we can get to the folks will be helpful and I look forward to hearing from Tim Russell about our property taxes and the folks from ACTII (All Churches Together) about their upcoming meeting,” Small said.

For more information, contact City Hall at 621-9000.
